Interiors New Designers 1997. Bright young things. It's art, it's furniture and it's cheap. Here's how to buy creative one-offs for high street prices. ceramic bottles by sophie cook, world of interiors (november 1997)
Tom Dixon, a furniture designer, chose pots by Sophie Cook from Camberwell College: 'Ceramics is such a tired subject, so it is nice to see something fresh. Sophie isn't scared of colour, for instance. She is doing something that is crafty, but in loud, modern colours; it is so easy to go all earthernware and muesli-coloured. She is also kind of messy which appeals to me, because I am as well. I have chosen something that is different from my own work: I find it difficult to choose an image of a chair or something that I produce myself. At home, I don't go for anything that is similar to my work as I like to get away from it all.'
